智猶水也・不流則腐

Knowledge is like water.
If it does not flow, it becomes turbid.

At Qwyga, we strive to share personalized education technologies about the cultural heritage of our world, based on the three pillars of ARKives, Research and Knowledge. Borrowing from the Noah's Ark motif, our major goal is to preserve and disseminate human knowledge in all its diversity.

Our vision is on one hand focused on the individual, which is often neglected in the field of (especially digitalized) education. We want to be accessible to everyone by helping to overcome fears and empower oneself. Our goal is to make learning easier for everyone, not only preserving knowledge for posterity, but also spreading and increasing active knowledge of humanity.

Thus, on the other hand, our goals and values are not only focused on the individual level, but also on the collective one. Therefore, internationality, interculturality and interdisciplinarity are the core of our global endeavor. We want to fulfill our social responsibility by preserving cultural and linguistic diversity, strengthening cohesion through awareness of difference, and reinforcing the identity of each companion on our journey.

In addition to cross-cultural respect as the basis for strong unity, we focus on scientificity and knowledge transfer in our methodology. Since we all come from a scientific background, we are aware of the great importance of science-based work and give it a large place in the creation of our technologies: New findings are considered, evaluated, and examined by us with regard to their benefit for further development. At the same time, we also want to make and share our contribution to the creation of new knowledge. We see the digital education sector as a great, but so far insufficiently explored opportunity. With our solutions, we not only want to implement common practices, but also be a driving force of technological advancement ourselves.

Ultimately, we want to make Qwyga and its technologies a place that learners around the world enjoy visiting and using. Our products - with all their scientific basis and respectful seriousness - should be fun to use and invite people to engage themselves with the content presented. Qwyga should breathe the spirit of its customers, and this should also be experienced when using our technologies.

My great passion is learning and exploring foreign languages. After completing my dissertation in Japanese studies, I worked on an English-language textbook on the Ainu language on behalf of Yale University until October 2019. I have been teaching Japanese, Classical Tibetan, and Ainu since as early as 2006. In addition, I have also repeatedly created learning groups that focused on indigenous languages in particular.

My main interest is to apply research results in an application-oriented way. My background is in computational linguistics (especially machine translation, coreference resolution, and network analysis), psychology (consumer psychology and behavioral economics), and database and app design in the field of digital education. With my experience, I hope to contribute to Qwyga's efforts to communicate the world's cultures.

Language learning has been one of my fascinations for a long time. Through my studies I gained a lot of know-how in NLP and Machine Learning. Following these studies I joined Qwyga with the goal of both improving digital language learning and joining the effort to conserve low resource languages.
