Three key points that link the values of Qwyga as well as my career are: Internationality, Interculturality and Interdisciplinarity. My path to this was prepared early on by my bilingual upbringing (German and Japanese) in Bonn. I finished my studies of computational linguistics at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität of Heidelberg with the topic "Using Graph-Based Local Coherence for Document-Level MT Decoding" for the B.A. and with the topic "Ranking-based Reference-free Evaluation of Timeline Summarization Systems" for the M.A. In my minor, psychology, I have focused my studies in the areas of consumer psychology and behavioral economics. I was thus able to acquire additional knowledge that is now bearing fruit in the context of a more market-oriented activity. In between, however, I was also able to spend a year abroad (2014-2015) at Sophia University (上智大学), Tokyo, which deepened my knowledge mainly in Japanese linguistics, translation studies, and political science.

I was able to gain early international work experience during my school days through an internship with the United Nations Volunteers. I then completed another, study-related internship at the National Institute of Informatics (国立情報学研究所), Tokyo. Furthermore, since 2015, I have been part of several (inter)national and (inter)disciplinary research projects at the following institutions:

  • Project "Adaptive Information Processing from Heterogeneous Sources" (AIPHES, TU Darmstadt and Universität Heidelberg), 2015-2017
  • Project "Digital Literary Map of Japan" (DLM), Marsilius-Kolleg and Institut für Japanologie, Universität Heidelberg (2015-2017), National Institute of Japanese Literature (国文学研究資料館), Tokyo (2017-2020), and Osaka University (大阪大学), Osaka (2020-2021)
  • Project "Japan Biographical Database" (JBDB), Sophia University (上智大学) 2016-2021
  • Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS), research group Natural Language Processing, 2017-2018
  • Institut für Computerlinguistik, Universität Heidelberg, 2018-2019
  • International project "Edo Period Map goes Digital – The O Edu ezu as an Interactive Resource" at Ritsumeikan University (立命館大学) in cooperation with Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, 2020-2021
My main interest is to apply research results in an application-oriented way. My background is in computational linguistics (especially machine translation, coreference resolution, and network analysis), psychology (consumer psychology and behavioral economics), and database and app design in the field of digital education. With my experience, I hope to contribute to Qwyga's efforts to communicate the world's cultures.
